Autistic Women Blog 10/17/2020
Getting tested for autism can be expensive and difficult. If you are wondering whether you should get tested or how to get tested when you are ready, here are a few resources to help.
- https://www.cdc.gov/ncbddd/autism/screening.html This is from the CDC website. It has a lot of information about autism and has a lot of links to other resources.
- https://psychology-tools.com/test/autism-spectrum-quotient This is a link to a test that they use for autism. I would not use this as the only way that you get tested but it can give you an idea of whether you may actually have it or not. You have to be tested by a professional to be officially diagnosed.
- https://www.webmd.com/brain/autism/adult-diagnosed-on-autism-spectrum Here is another website with a lot of information on testing.
- https://www.healthline.com/health/autism-in-adults#living-with-autism Here’s another website with a lot of information.
Getting tested can be stressful. And being female can make it more difficult to get diagnosed. But don’t give up. Do your research and get tested somewhere that has a good reputation and understands how to test females. We will have more blogs on testing in the future.
